- Ideal Introductory Experience for New To Summit Campers AND Returning!
Discovery Camp is the perfect introductory program for first time campers in grades1-5 to enjoy the experience of Summer Camp in a shorter stay. Similarly, we have a number of returning Discovery campers each year who use this program as a stepping stone to prepare themselves for our longer 1 and 2 week camps. During their time at Camp, Discovery campers will have the opportunity to visit many of the fantastic program areas that Summit has to offer including our camp classics such as archery, climbing, orienteering, campfires and crafts!
At Camp Summit, we work to ensure there is plenty of variety in our daily schedule to give all campers an equal opportunity to learn and explore what interests them! During our Discovery program, campers are placed in a cabin group of 8 campers with 2 Summit Staff living in the cabin with them. For our core activity programs, campers will travel as a cabin group to each activity that is scheduled for them – This helps to ensure our program is age appropriate for their group! Campers will also have the opportunity to choose their own interest activities during our “Choice Program,” where a list of exciting activities (specific to our Junior, Intermediate and Senior groups) will be available and they get to choose what they would like to do for a morning or afternoon time block.
Another big highlight of the Discovery program is the always exciting Summit Olympics, where campers and staff spend the day working together at a variety of events to conquer their mission of winning gold for their Summit House Team! Campers will be placed on their Summit House Team once at Camp and will represent that team each year they come back to Summit and for LIFE!
